Amritsar which literally means the “the pool of the Nectar Of Immortality”. It houses the Harimandir Sahib also known as the spiritual and cultural center of the Sikh Religion. The Raja Sansi International Airport is named after Maharaja Ranjit Singh's family name - Sansi is very commonly known as the Amritsar Airport. It is located at a distance of 11 km form the city center near the village of Raja Sansi on Amritsar-Ajnala road.

It is a government designated International Airport and operates 150 commercial and international flights a week. There are international flight to The Middle-East, Europe and America along with the destinations like London, Birmingham, Kabul, Sharjah, Tashkent, Ashgabat, Moscow, Dubai and Bratislava. The airport has gone through a complete makeover and has come up with new Terminals are International Flights and Uzbek airways, Tajikistan Airlines, Phuket airlines, Malaysia airlines and British Airways are lining up to fly here. With five parking base the Amritsar airport can accommodate many airplanes and in the expansion plan four more parking base s would be added.
